22 - Fantasia (1940) (GUESTS: Marc with a C (Musician) and Alexander Miller (Writer, Battleship Pretension, Talk Film Society, Film Inquiry)
Host Mat Bradley-Tschirgi starts things off with an interview with indie musican and Sequelcast 2 theme performer Marc with a C to talk about his upcoming vinyl release of Shock Treatment Interpretations.
Then, hosts Mat Bradley-Tschirgi and William Thrasher talk about Disney's Fantasia with guest Alexander Miller (Writer for Battleship Pretension, Talk Film Society, and Film Inquiry). Walt Disney sunk a lot of money into this artsy combination of classical music and animation, but it took years for Fantasia to make its money back. There's a lot of iconic sequences in here; The Sorcerer's Apprentice segment with Mickey Mouse later inspired a live-action movie of the same name starring Jay Baruchel and Nicolas Cage.
Alexander loves diving into Martin Scorsese's World Cinema Project No. 2 box set. Mat enjoys the music drops and lighter tone of the new Netflix series Glow. Thrasher fired up a camp sci-fi car chase cult favorite Megaforce.
