Clerks (1994)

Hosts Mat Bradley-Tschirgi, and Thrasher discuss Clerks. A convenience store clerk (Brian O'Halloran) and a video rental store clerk (Jeff Anderson) kill time working their tedious jobs.

Kevin Smith's directorial debut financed on a handful of credit cards, Clerks screened at Sundance and was picked up by Miramax Films for a limited theatrical release. An indie comedy with witty dialogue, Clerks never tries to outsmart its slacker audience. Smith's script keeps the cast and location small creating an episodic character piece and launching his interconnected View Askweniverse of films, comics, and cartoons. Before Clerks, Star Wars references in films were rare. After Clerks, they were nonstop.
